What does the BUTLERBOT W3 do?
The BUTLERBOT W3 is the room service robot designed specifically for multi-floor hotels. Unlike floor robots, the W3 works in the corridors, accesses lifts on its own through API integration with the hotel system, and delivers orders directly to the room door, alerting the guest with its 10-inch touchscreen and built-in speaker. Its operation is fully autonomous: it receives the order from reception or the hotel PMS, calculates the optimal route, goes up or down a floor without human intervention, waits for a configurable time and returns to its charging dock on its own. It can handle several orders in sequence during the same shift. The W3 doesn't replace the reception or housekeeping team: it frees them from repetitive trips between floors so they can focus on higher-value tasks. In a 120-room hotel, room service trips account for between 2 and 4 hours of staff work per night shift.

Does the W3 go up and down in the lift on its own or does someone need to press the button?
The BUTLERBOT W3 integrates with the lift control system through an API. Once the integration is configured during deployment, the robot calls the lift, gets in, selects the destination floor and exits completely autonomously. It needs no human intervention to use the lift.
What happens if the guest doesn't open the door when the robot arrives?
The robot waits for a configurable time at the door (between 2 and 5 minutes), alerts via the screen and speaker, and if there's no response it returns to the base with the order. The system logs the failed attempt and automatically notifies reception to handle the issue.
Can the W3 operate in hotels with carpet or rugs in the corridors?
The W3 is designed for hard surfaces (marble, stoneware, parquet, vinyl). In corridors with standard carpet up to 8 mm thick it can operate without problems. For thicker carpets or raised edges, we run a test during the prior assessment before recommending the model.
How does the robot know which room to deliver to?
Reception enters the room number in the management system interface or the KEENON app. The robot receives the order, loads the hotel map generated during installation, calculates the route and heads to the room. The whole process takes less than 30 seconds from confirmation.
How many W3 robots does a 120-room hotel need?
It depends on the order volume and the number of floors. In most hotels of 100 to 150 rooms with 4 to 6 floors, a single W3 covers night room service comfortably. For more than 200 rooms or very active daytime room service, we consider two units. We determine this in the free assessment.
What maintenance does the BUTLERBOT W3 require?
Routine maintenance consists of exterior cleaning, checking the wheels, sensors and connectivity, plus software updates coordinated by Alpha Robotics. In a standard hotel deployment, a periodic preventive check is scheduled to keep routes, maps and the charging dock in optimal condition.
